Private Jet to Darien, CT - Airports, Routes & Prices
Darien, a New York City suburb 40 miles northeast of Manhattan, is synonymous with exclusivity.
The waterfront community is one of five Fairfield County towns among the 100 most expensive towns in the United States with Old Greenwich and Darien being in the top 10.
Darien’s is a town of 13 square miles with 16 miles of coastline on Long Island Sound. It is a 45-minute train ride to New York City and all it has to offer. The highest-priced homes are in the neighborhoods along the shore, including Noroton Neck, Contentment Island, Long Neck Point, and Tokeneke.
Members-only socializing is a hallmark of life in Darien. The town of private beaches, yacht clubs, and mansions has eight members-only clubs where the fabulously wealthy golf, yacht, play and swim. At the top are the highly selective Wee Burn Country Club, which has a 760-word dress code; and the Country Club of Darien, where membership is by invitation only.
In addition to the private clubs, there are nine city-run beaches, hiking, and sports parks.
Darien has long been portrayed as a town of stuffy elitists in Hollywood. A famous reference to the town was made in the 1958 film, “Auntie Mame,” in which Rosalind Russell referred to her nephew’s girlfriend as an “Aryan from Darien.” In 1947, “Gentleman’s Agreement,” based on a book of the same name, portrayed the town as being intolerant and anti-Semitic.
While Darien is no longer the town of those unflattering Hollywood portrayals, U.S. Census data shows it does remain white and wealthy. According to its 2018 estimates, Darien is 91 percent white and 0.7 percent black with five other races making up the remaining 8 percent. The median value of homes is $1.4 million.
Historically Republican, Darien, which was incorporated in 1820, voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, the first Democrat to win in 60 years.
Among Darien’s famous former residents is Charles Lindbergh. The first person to make a solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean docked his seaplane at his Tokeneke Trail seaside cottage.

Save on Your Darien Private Charter Flights
These days, over 30% of private jet charters are flying empty either to get into the position for the next booked flight or to return to their home base. These flights are known as empty legs and are one-way private jet flights without any payload or passengers on board.
It often happens that such an empty-leg flight has been paid for in part by the original flyer and is therefore offered at reduced rates. Empty legs offer price advantages with cost savings of up to 75% when compared to standard private jet travel rates.
At any given time, there may be more than 3,000 empty legs available worldwide. Once you let us know about your preferred routes and dates, we can match your air charter schedule with empty-leg charter flights available on the market.
Using multiple platforms, Paramount Business Jets offers the most comprehensive empty-leg flight search on the market.
