Private Jet Rental Costs

In most cases private jet providers calculate the hourly rate to estimate the costs of a private jet rental.

How Much Does it Cost to Rent a Private Jet?

The cost to rent a private jet varies from $2,000 – $14,000 per billable flight hour. These hourly rates include a broad selection of aircraft from turboprops to the finest executive jets in the skies. In addition to the hourly rental rates, several other factors contribute to the overall price of renting a private jet.

The most economical private jets - Turboprops, Very Light Jets, or Executive Light Jets - cost around $2,600 to $3,500 per flight hour. Midsize or Super Midsize Jets cost between $4,000 and $8,000 per hour. Large and Ultra Long Range Jets cost between $8,000 and $14,000 per hour within the US, and possibly higher internationally.

Ultra-luxury VIP airliners such as the BBJs and ACJs in executive configurations cost anywhere from $16,000 to 23,000 per billable flight hour.

Below you can see various factors that influence the price.

  • Private Jet Rental Price Factors

    Aircraft Category

The aircraft category refers to the size of an aircraft. The bigger the jet the more expensive it is to hire it. Private jet prices vary from very light jets to ultra-long-range jets, from $2,000 to $14,000 per hour or more.

    Aircraft Type

There are a variety of aircraft types within each category of private jets. Some aircraft types are slightly more expensive than others based on market demand. You can expect price variations from $200 to $2,000 per hour or more.

    Age of Aircraft

The hourly rental rate of a newer rental aircraft is higher per hour than an older aircraft's. Prices can vary from $100 to $1,000 per hour or more.

    Billable Flight Time

The total billable flight time includes positioning fees, time in the air plus, possibly, the industry standard which is a minimum of 2 hours per day, when applicable. Billable flight time refers to wheels up to wheels down and does not include taxi time.

  • Fees Applicable to All US Flights

    Landing Fees

Landing fees are charged by the airport authority to maintain the facility and they vary by airport, usually between $150 to $500 depending on the size and weight of the aircraft.

    Ramp and Handling

Ramp and handling fees are anywhere from $100 to $500 per visit, charged by the fixed-base operator to handle and park the aircraft. These fees are sometimes waived if a minimum amount of fuel is purchased.

    US Segment Fees

Segment fees are a government tax calculated per passenger and they vary by region. In the US a segment fee is $5.00 per passenger, per leg.

    Federal Excise Tax

Federal Excise Tax is charged for all US domestic flight legs at a rate of 7.5%. FET is charged on any amount paid for air transportation. Learn how to calculate taxes on flights in the United States.

  • Possible Additional Costs & Fees

    Crew Over Nights

Crew overnight and per diem fees are between $200 and $400 per crew member per night to cover food, lodging, and other expenses related to being away from home.

    Short Leg fees

Short-leg fees apply generally to larger aircraft categories and are set by the owner of the aircraft for flights under a specified duration. The industry standard daily minimum flight time is 2 hours per day.

    Aircraft Positioning Cost

Aircraft positioning fees are based on the amount of flight time accumulated to position the aircraft to pick up passengers and for the aircraft to fly back to its home base.

    Hangar Fees

Hangar fees are most commonly incurred in icy conditions to prevent ice, snow, or frost from accumulating on aircraft surfaces and to avoid deicing costs. Based on the size of the aircraft hangar fees can be anywhere from $500 to $1,500 per day.

    Wi-Fi Charges

Wi-Fi fees range from $3.00 to 8.50 per megabyte depending on the region. Wi-Fi usage on a flight from Europe to the USA can cost from $3.00 to $6000. A broker can arrange an aircraft that offers free Wi-Fi when possible and feasible. Wi-Fi is standard on most newer aircraft.

    Cleaning Fees

Cleaning fees are sometimes charged when a mishap occurs, requiring deep cleaning and carpet shampooing. Generally speaking, a standard carpet shampoo can cost $250 to $500 or more.

    Deicing Charges

Whenever snow, ice, or even frost accumulates on aircraft surfaces, deicing is necessary. It is charged per application. Deicing can cost from $1,500 for smaller aircraft to $10,000 or more for larger aircraft.

    International Fees

Depending on the event and the region, the international fees can cost anywhere from $500 to $5,000 or more. They include landing permits, overflight permits, customs, and immigration fees whenever required by your route of flight and the country of your arrival.

    Fuel Surcharge

A fuel surcharge is applicable when there is a surge in fuel prices in the market. Fuel surcharges can add $600 to $900 per hour or more depending on the size of the aircraft. Paramount Business Jets rental prices are inclusive of fuel surcharges unless specified otherwise.

    Aircraft Daily Minimums

Operators require a certain amount of minimum hour charge per day depending on the aircraft size. For example, for turboprops the daily minimums are 1.5 hours, for light and midsize it's 2.0 hours and for super midsize, large, and ultra-long range, the daily minimums are 2.5 hours.

    International Head Tax

International Head Tax in 2024 is $22.20 per passenger for any international flight leg that begins or ends in the US.

    Alaska/Hawaii Head Tax

Alaska and Hawaii Head Tax in 2024 is $11.10 per passenger and applies to departures from Alaska/Hawaii for domestic segments

How to Calculate the Private Jet Rental Cost?

Here is the breakdown and explanation of charges and fees of a domestic round-trip private jet rental. Essentially, this is a time, speed, and distance calculation. Using a sample route between Minneapolis and Phoenix, we itemize all the costs that make up the total private jet rental price for the respective flight.

Private Flight Scenario 1: Minneapolis to Phoenix

A sample route of a round trip between Minneapolis and Phoenix

Scenario 1: Minneapolis to Phoenix - Sample Fees

Here is a line-by-line breakdown of charges that make up the total private jet rental cost of a common private jet flight. The tax rates used are 2024 tax rates.

Trip Type Round Trip
PAX 4 Passengers
Route Minneapolis, MN to Phoenix, AZ
Duration of Trip 3 days, 2 nights
Departure Airport KMSP – St. Paul International Airport
Destination Airport KPHX – Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
Total Distance 2,552 miles
Aircraft Size Midsize Jet
Hourly Rate $3,750/hour
Average Speed 400 mph
Billable Flight Time 7.4 hours  (includes 30 min each leg for take-off and taxi)
Flight Cost $27,750.00
Crew Overnight Cost * $1,500.00
Landing Fees $1000.00
Subtotal $30,250.00
Federal Excise Tax $2,268.75
Segment Fees $40
Total Cost $32,559.75

The total distance for this trip is 2,552 (one-way - 1,276 miles x 2) divided by the average speed of 400 mph equals a total flight time of 6.4 hours plus 30 minutes (15 minutes for take-off and 15 minutes for taxi) times 2 equals billable time of 7.4 hours.

The flight time of 7.4 hours multiplied by the hourly rate of $3,750 equals a total of $27,750.

Average overnight costs and per diem for the crew are $750 per night for a 2-person crew totaling $1,500.

Flight time minimums of 6 hours (3 days × 2 hours = 6 hours) have been exceeded for this itinerary and do not come into the calculation of the rental price.

The flight cost of $27,750 plus the crew cost of $1,500 and $1,000 gives us a subtotal of $30,250.

Segment Fees are $5.00 per passenger, per flight leg, times 4 passengers equals $40.00.

Adding in the 7.5% FET and segment fees amounts to a total all-inclusive rental price of $32,554.75

How Much Do Private Jets of Different Sizes Cost?

Aircraft are categorized by size, depending on the range and passenger capacity. The larger the aircraft, the greater the range, passenger and baggage capacities, and hourly rental rates will be.

Private Jet Charter Passengers

Prices for private jets vary by size, type, and age among other factors

When choosing an aircraft size, consider which aircraft has the range to fly to your destination without fuel stops. A smaller aircraft requiring a fuel stop will have a lower hourly rate, but fuel stops increase travel time and additional costs, not always resulting in the savings you were expecting.

Comprehensive List of Aircraft Types and their Rates

Aircraft types vary by age, range, interior configuration, refurbishment dates, and hourly rates. Below is a comprehensive list of private jets available on the global market and their average hourly rates.

How is the Hourly Rental Rate of a Jet Determined?

The hourly jet rental rates cover the charges of owning and operating the aircraft. The hourly rate is a combination of the fixed and variable costs spread over the expected total hours of usage per year. Fixed costs include:

  • Crew Salaries
  • Benefits and Training
  • Aircraft and Operating Insurance
  • Aircraft Storage
  • Aircraft Refurbishment

Variable costs are incurred according to specific aircraft usages, such as fuel and maintenance.

An aircraft’s total expected hours of usage per year ultimately determines the hourly rental cost for an aircraft. To sustain yearly costs of $2M, 200 flight hours of expected usage means a breakeven of $10,000 per hour. 400 hours will reduce the hourly cost to $5,000 per hour. The examples below will further explain how expected usage and daily flight time minimums play into the overall cost of renting a private jet.

How Much Does an Empty Leg Flight Cost?

Empty legs are generally 30% - 40% less than the cost of a full rental In some cases, if an aircraft must re-position urgently, even better deals can be had.

Around one-third of all private jet flights fly empty. In the United States, that is around 250 per day. Brokers have access to all of these empty legs. The savings can be significant for clients, especially on long distance international flights, as they don’t need to buy a return journey.

Smaller jets and shorter flights produce smaller savings while longer flights and larger jets can offer huge savings. On light jets heading up and down the East Coast, you’ll save around $5,000 - $6,000. Cross-country flights in the USA can produce savings of $30,000 - $50,000. Transcontinental empty leg flights could save you upwards of $100,000.

It’s important to remember that empty legs will still cost a lot more than commercial tickets. You’ll pay the normal hourly rates for your flight. This is key to managing expectation of empty leg flight prices.

Here are some examples of how much empty leg flights can cost:

Type of Jet Departing Arriving Estimated Cost
Large jet New York London $65,000
Super midsize jet New York Los Angeles $30,000
Light jet New York Miami $11,000
Light jet Chicago Fort Myers $7,800
Light jet Los Angeles Las Vegas $4,500

A Regional Private Jet Cost Comparison Case Study

Pricing varies in different regions of the world for the same aircraft type.

For example, a round-trip flight in the United States, from New York City to Los Angeles, with an overnight stay, using a Challenger 601 with a typical passenger capacity of 9, will cost around $58,900. A total flight time of 5 hours and 21 minutes on the outbound leg plus 4 hours and 52 minutes on the return leg equals a total flight time of 10 hours and 21 minutes. The total round trip cost comes to about $6,544 per passenger. The cost per passenger is about $633 per hour.

However, a round-trip flight in South America using the same Challenger 601 with a typical passenger capacity of 9, flying from Sao Paulo to Caracas with an overnight stay will cost around $82,500. A flight time of 5 hours and 59 minutes on the outbound leg and 5 hours and 41 minutes of flight time on the return leg equals a total flight time of 11 hours and 41 minutes. The total round-trip cost comes to about $9,167 per passenger. The cost per passenger is about $785 per hour.

When you take an hourly cost, such as $633, per passenger and multiply it by 9 passengers, it comes to $5,697 per flying hour, multiplied by 10 hours, which equals to $56,970 in the United States. In South America, taking the hourly cost of $785 per person, multiplied by 9 passengers, comes to $7,065 per hour. This, multiplied by 10 hours of flight, equals $70,650.

Thus, when comparing apples to apples for the same flight time of 10 hours using the same aircraft type, a rental flight in the United States costs about $13,000 less than in South America.

  • How much does it cost to rent a private jet?

The cost of renting a private jet can vary significantly depending on factors such as the aircraft type, flight duration, and distance. On average, private jet rental costs can range from $2,000 to $11,000 or more per flight hour or more.

  • What factors influence the cost of private jet rentals?

Several factors influence the cost of private jet rentals, including aircraft type, flight distance, repositioning fees, flight duration, duration of stay, airport fees, fuel prices, peak travel seasons, and additional services or amenities requested.

  • Is there an hourly rate for renting a private jet?

Yes, private jet rental base prices are founded on the hourly rates of each category of aircraft. The bigger the aircraft and the longer the flight the more expensive the cost of the flight is. Hourly rates for a small 4-passenger very light jet begin at about 2000 USD per hour and go up from there.

  • Are there any discounts or deals available for frequent flyers or long-term rentals?

Paramount Business Jets offers discounts and deals for frequent flyers through the use of our private jet membership programs. Our membership programs are based on receiving the best price and aircraft option on a per-trip basis, it is not a leasing program, however, the higher your deposit the bigger your discount is based on the level of membership you sign up for.  Learn more about our Jet Card Membership Program.

  • Can I choose specific amenities or services that fit within my budget?

Yes, private jet rentals offer a range of amenities and services that can be tailored to fit within your budget. From catering options to ground transportation arrangements, and entertainment systems to onboard Wi-Fi, you can select the amenities that align with your preferences and budget.

  • How does the age of the aircraft affect the rental cost?

The age of the aircraft can influence the rental cost. Generally, newer aircraft with advanced technology, modern features, and enhanced fuel efficiency may have higher rental rates compared to older aircraft. Newer aircraft often offer a superior flying experience and updated amenities. Newer aircraft can cost anywhere from 100 USD to 1000 USD or more per hour.

  • Are there different price ranges for different types of private jets?

Yes, different types of private jets have varying rental costs. Larger and more luxurious aircraft with longer-range capabilities tend to have higher rental rates compared to smaller jets. Factors such as cabin size, range, amenities, market demand, and brand reputation can influence the price range.

  • Do private jet rental costs vary based on the number of passengers?

Private jet rental costs are often influenced by the number of passengers to accommodate. Larger aircraft capable of carrying more passengers generally have higher rental rates due to their increased capacity and associated operating costs. However, you are renting the whole jet and it's up to you to pay for the empty seats or bring additional guests.

  • Do private jet rental costs include pilot and crew fees?

Yes, private jet rental costs include pilot and crew fees. The fees cover the salaries, training, and the $400 per overnight costs per crew member fee as well.

  • Are there any hidden fees or charges that I should be aware of?

Paramount Business Jets strives for full transparency in our private jet rental pricing. We provide an all-inclusive private jet rental price prior to every flight. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges.

  • Can I negotiate the rental cost with the rental provider?

While some flexibility may exist for negotiation in certain situations, private jet rental costs are typically determined by market rates and operational expenses. At Paramount Business Jets, our operators compete for your business and we pass on the savings to you. Should you feel additional discounts are necessary, let us know and we can discuss your requests with the operator to see if they will further lower the price. We represent your interests in the market. However, we try not to beat up our operators if the price is already highly competitive. We would be happy to advise at the time of booking and welcome your suggestions.

  • How far in advance should I book a private jet to secure the best pricing?

Booking around 30 days in advance is generally recommended to secure the best pricing and ensure aircraft availability. Popular travel periods and destinations can result in increased demand for private jets, so booking early can help you secure the aircraft of your choice at a competitive rate.

  • Are there any peak seasons or times of the year when private jet rental costs are higher?

Yes, private jet rental costs can be higher during peak travel seasons or major holidays when there is increased demand for private aviation. Examples include summer vacation periods, major sporting events, and year-end holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. It's advisable to book early or consult with your Paramount Business Jets Advisor to understand the potential impact on pricing during these times.

  • Can I rent a private jet for a one-way trip, or am I required to book a round trip?

Private jet rentals offer flexibility in booking options, including one-way trips. While round-trip bookings may sometimes offer cost savings due to reduced positioning fees, renting providers can accommodate one-way trips based on your specific travel needs. We can assist in finding suitable options that align with your desired itinerary including discounted one-way empty legs flights.

  • What is the average cost difference between a turboprop and a private jet rental?

The average cost difference between a turboprop and a private jet rental can vary depending on the specific aircraft models and their capabilities. Turboprops are generally more fuel-efficient and have lower operating costs, making them more cost-effective for shorter distances. Private jets, on the other hand, offer faster speeds and greater range capabilities, but with higher rental rates. Depending on the aircraft, the cost differences can be between 500 USD to 2000 USD less per hour for turbo-props.

  • Are there any additional fees or charges associated with private jet rentals?

Yes, there may be additional fees or charges associated with private jet rentals, such as landing fees, overnight fees, catering charges, ground transportation, de-icing fees (during winter), taxes, and much more. It's important to discuss these potential costs with the rental provider on a per-flight basis. Here is a list of all the potential costs and fees.

  • How are private jet rental costs calculated for multi-leg trips or stopovers?

Private jet rental costs for multi-leg trips or stopovers are typically calculated based on the total flight time required, including any intermediate stops or layovers. The operator considers factors such as aircraft hourly rates, landing and handling fees at each destination, crew expenses, and any additional charges associated with specific services or arrangements. It's advisable to discuss your itinerary and travel plans in detail with your Paramount Aviation Advisor to obtain an accurate cost estimate.

  • Can you provide an estimate of the cost to rent a private jet for a specific trip or distance?

If you're looking to rent a light jet for a one-way trip from New York to Miami, you can consider the Hawker 400XP for approximately $10,500 USD. Alternatively, the Learjet 45XR, a super light jet known for its speed and versatility, is available for around $13,500 USD. For larger groups or round-trip flights between New York and Miami, you may want to consider renting the Gulfstream GIV-SP. This aircraft can accommodate up to 14 passengers and provides a range of amenities. The cost of renting the Gulfstream GIV-SP for a one-way trip would be around $20,500 USD.

  • Are there any membership programs or packages available for private jet rentals?

Yes, we offer several private jet membership cards which deliver more discounts, faster booking times, and easier access to aircraft for frequent flyers. Learn more about the Paramount Jet Card Membership programs.

  • Can you provide information about the cost comparison between private jet rentals and commercial flights?

Private jet rentals are generally about 5 times more expensive than commercial flights on a per-passenger basis. However, when considering the convenience, time savings, flexibility, privacy, and other advantages of private jet travel, the added cost can be justified for those who value these benefits. Generally speaking, private jet flights are far more expensive than commercial flights, for example, a commercial flight from New York to Miami might cost you around 400 USD per passenger while the same flight on a private jet might cost you around 2,333 USD per passenger on a light jet with 6 passengers. You can get a quick quote online here while choosing various routes and private jet sizes.

  • Are there any differences in rental costs based on the time of day for departures or arrivals?

While rental costs may not differ significantly based on the time of day for departures or arrivals, there can be variations in operational costs and airport fees during specific hours. For example, some airports impose higher landing fees during peak hours or overnight parking charges. In remote locations airports close early and flights may need to be delayed and as a consequence increase the cost of the rental flight.

  • Can I get a refund or reschedule my private jet rental if my plans change?

Refund and rescheduling policies can vary among private jet operators. At Paramount Business Jets we try our best to not have our clients be charged for changes or cancellations, however, most operators will charge once a booked trip is within the cancellation period as stated in the rental agreement. Cancellation periods vary based on the trip and the operator's rules. Generally speaking, it’s not uncommon to see a 50% cancellation fee within two weeks of the departure date of the flight and 100 percent cancellation within 3 days of the trip. Flight changes are only possible if the operator has the availability to be able to make the changes without disrupting another client’s previously booked trip on that aircraft. Flight changes are not always possible without incurring cancellation fees. Some flights are 100 percent cancellation upon booking. For example, all one-way flights and empty-leg flights are 100 percent cancellation upon booking. Please check with your Paramount Aviation Advisor to review your cancellation terms and become familiar with the cancelation terms of your trip prior to pulling the trigger.

  • Is travel insurance included in the private jet rental cost?

Travel insurance is not included in the private jet rental cost. It's recommended to consult with your insurance provider to explore appropriate medical coverage options for your trip.

  • How does the cost of renting a private jet compare to owning a private jet?

Renting a private jet can be a more cost-effective option compared to owning a private jet. Owning a private jet entails significant upfront costs, including the purchase price, maintenance, insurance, and storage expenses. Additionally, the operational costs, such as fuel, crew salaries, and hangar fees, can add up significantly. Renting a private jet allows you to enjoy the benefits of private air travel without the financial commitment and ongoing expenses associated with ownership. Once you fly around 400 hours a year you can consider aircraft ownership.

  • Can I make changes to my itinerary after booking a private jet rental, and will there be any associated costs?

Changes to your itinerary after booking a private jet rental may be possible, but they can incur additional costs or fees depending on the nature and timing of the changes. It's essential to communicate any desired changes as early as possible to discuss the options available and understand any cost implications.

  • What happens if there are flight delays or cancellations with my private jet rental?

In the event of flight delays or cancellations, we will work with you to reschedule the flight or explore alternative options based on aircraft availability and your preferences.

  • Can I have a flexible departure time for my private jet flight?

Yes, it is possible to have a flexible departure when flying privately. Operators typically offer a two-hour window, but you can request a longer window as long as it doesn’t interfere with the maximum crew duty day or their next scheduled flight.

  • What kind of inflight catering is available on a private jet?

Other than the standard snacks and drinks, you can order local cuisine options for your catering on board. In short, anything that doesn’t need to be cooked can be ordered; hot food must be precooked then warmed on board.

  • Are there any restrictions on baggage or luggage weight for private jet rentals?

Private jet rentals often offer more flexibility with baggage allowances compared to commercial flights. However, the specific restrictions can vary depending on the aircraft type and its capabilities. As a general rule, each passenger can bring one large hard case and one soft carry-on bag with them.

  • Can I request additional services, such as in-flight catering or concierge assistance?

Absolutely! Renting a private jet often offers additional services to enhance your travel experience. These can include gourmet in-flight catering, concierge or ground transportation, and onboard entertainment options based on the occasion. These services may come at an additional cost, so it's important to discuss your requirements and budget with your Paramount Aviation Advisor.

  • Are there any restrictions on destinations for private jet rentals?

Private jet rentals provide access to a wide range of destinations, including popular airports, remote locations, and even private airstrips. However, there may be restrictions or limitations for certain destinations due to factors such as runway length, aircraft performance requirements, and local regulations. We also do not book flights into war zones or any destinations that may be considered dangerous.

  • Can I request a specific aircraft model for my private jet rental?

Yes, you can request a specific aircraft model for your private jet rental, subject to availability. Our approved aircraft operators have a fleet of different aircraft types and models to choose from. By discussing your preferences and requirements with your Paramount Aviation Advisor, we can help match you with the most suitable aircraft for your needs.

  • Can I rent a private jet for group travel or corporate events?

Yes, private jets can be rented for group travel or corporate events. We offer options for larger aircraft, such as Boeing Business Jets or airliners, which can accommodate a significant number of passengers. Whether it's for corporate retreats, incentive trips, or group travel with friends and family, we can tailor the experience to meet your specific needs.

  • What are the options for in-flight entertainment on private jets?

Private jets often offer various in-flight entertainment options to enhance your travel experience. These can include high-quality audio and video systems, satellite TV, streaming services, gaming consoles, and even connectivity for personal devices. The specific amenities available may vary depending on the aircraft and its configuration, so it's advisable to discuss your entertainment preferences with your Paramount Aviation Advisor at the time of your booking.

  • Do private jet rental costs include ground transportation to and from the airport?

Private jet rental costs do not include ground transportation to and from the airport unless you are a Paramount Jet Card Member, which offers a certain amount of concierge credit on a per-trip basis. For ad-hoc on-demand rentals, we assist our clients in arranging ground transportation services as an additional service, ensuring a seamless door-to-door travel experience while getting approval on all charges from our clients before incurring them.

  • Can I bring pets on board a private jet, and are there any associated costs?

Yes, most private jet operators allow pets on board their aircraft unless the owners specify otherwise, subject to certain guidelines and restrictions. There may be additional costs or cleaning fees associated with traveling with pets. Sometimes some operators require and 250 USD or 500 USD pet cleaning fee. It's important to communicate your intention to bring pets when booking the rental so that your Paramount Aviation Advisor can make appropriate arrangements.

  • How much does a private jet carbon offset cost?

In short not much when compared to the overall cost of a rental flight. For example, a private jet flight from Teterboro, NJ to Fort Lauderdale, FL on a light jet will cost around 14,000 USD one way and produce around 9,374 pounds of CO2. Terra Pass which is one of the 4 Caron Offset organization options we recommend on our Private Jet Carbon Offset System charges 7.99 USD per 1000 pounds of CO2 for a total cost of 74.90 USD to offset the flight from New York to Florida on a light jet. According to that calculation, the cost of the carbon offset is around .5% of the overall cost of the private jet flight.

  • Are private jets wheelchair accessible?

There are many aircraft which are wheelchair accessible. Most of them are large jets or above and have a straight aisle. If the jet has a zigzag aisle – like the Falcon 900 – it will be difficult to maneuver the wheelchair onboard the aircraft. You’ll also need the right type of wheelchair; many motorized wheelchairs won’t fit and can’t be collapsed. If this is the case, you’ll need a smaller, temporary wheelchair. Some aircraft operators have smaller wheelchairs that can be used.

  • How long does a fuel stop take?

The average fuel stop takes 45–60 minutes. To speed up fuel stops, the operator or pilots may call ahead so a fuel truck is waiting for the aircraft on arrival. For smaller jets, a fuel stop can take as little as 30 minutes.

  • Do private jets come with flight attendants?

In the United States, large jets and above are required to have flight attendants onboard; in Europe, flight attendants are used on midsize jets and above. Flight attendants require their own seat. Larger jets and above have a jump seat near the cockpit for the flight attendant to use, meaning the attendant generally stays out of the cabin.

  • Do private jet clients have to clear customs?

Passengers on all international private rental flights will have to stop at customs. In certain countries, you may have to go through customs at a specific port of entry; for example, you must stop in Tahiti to perform customs checks en route to Bora Bora. You’ll also need to stop at the first port of entry when entering the U.S. from Mexico

  • How soon can I have a private jet ready?

If you’re using a fractional model or fixed-rate hourly jet cards, you’ll need to provide 10-12 hours’ notice for a private jet request. But at Paramount Business Jets, we pride ourselves on achieving a 4-hour turnaround for on-demand rental and ad hoc clients.

  • Can I rent private jets in remote regions?

Yes, private jet services are available in remote or less accessible regions, offering you the convenience of air travel to destinations that may not be served by commercial airlines. There are around 500 commercial airports in the United States versus around 5,500 private jet airports in the United States. Private jets can utilize smaller airports, allowing you to reach secluded locations, vacation resorts, or business centers with ease.

  • What are the jet rental safety protocols?

Private jet rental flights prioritize safety and adhere to strict FAA standards and regulations. Our approved operators ensure that the aircraft and crew meet all safety requirements, including regular maintenance inspections and compliance with aviation authorities. At Paramount Business Jets, we make use of third-party safety rating companies such as ARGUS and or WYVERN to run third-party safety checks prior to each and every flight. Should an aircraft or crew not meet or exceed the ARGUS minimum safety requirements, which by far exceeds the FAA minimum requirements, we will immediately alert our client and find alternative aircraft options. • What is a carbon-neutral flight?

Every aircraft burns jet fuel and emits a certain amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. This can be offset via one of several carbon offset programs that allow private jet clients to purchase a certain number of carbon credits to offset the emissions from their flight. A carbon-neutral flight is one that offsets the carbon emissions it uses via a formal process.

  • Is the age of an aircraft a safety factor?

Aircraft age is not a safety factor. However, if the aircraft is older and hasn’t been refurbished properly, it may cause flyers some inconvenience such as overheating, faulty air conditioning, or faulty plumbing in the lavatory.

  • Do private jets come with Wi-Fi?

Many private jets do have Wi-Fi, and it’s increasingly available free of charge on U.S. domestic flights. On international flights, prices range from $3.00-$8.50 USD per megabyte used. This means that opening up social media sites that are rich in images and videos could quickly cost you $20 – and downloading a feature-length movie could cost thousands!

  • Can I access my luggage while in flight?

On most private jets, you will be able to access your luggage during the flight. That’s because luggage and passengers are situated on the same level. This is in contrast to commercial airlines, where checked luggage is stored in a cargo hold. On large private jets, luggage is often stored in a compartment behind the lavatory, which means easy access to your bags.

  • Can I fly with large sums of cash?

Yes, you can. This is a common occurrence for many private jet clients. You can fly with up to $5 million in cash as long as you declare that cash when coming through customs. For domestic trips, there’s no limit and no need to declare it.

  • Can I bring my pets on a private jet?

Yes, pets are often allowed on private jets, subject to certain guidelines and regulations. Most operators welcome well-behaved pets onboard, but it's important to inform us in advance about your intention to bring a pet. We can provide details on any specific requirements, such as travel crates or documentation, to ensure compliance with aviation and customs regulations.
