Rifle City Overview
Rifle is a town located in Garfield County of Western Colorado, in the Colorado River Valley. Rifle lies about 68 miles northwest of Aspen, 88 miles west of Vail, 137 miles west of Boulder, and 149 miles west of Denver. Rifle was founded by Abram Maxfield in 1882 and officially incorporated in 1905. Riffle is an important regional center of the cattle ranching industry.
