Augusta City Overview
Augusta is a consolidated city-county in eastern Georgia and is about 150 miles east of the state capital of Atlanta. Augusta is the second-largest and second oldest city in Georgia, as well as it is the second-largest metropolitan area in the state after Atlanta. Augusta was founded in 1735 as a trading outpost and named after Princess Augusta of Saxe Gotha.
