Augusta City Overview

Augusta is a consolidated city-county in eastern Georgia and is about 150 miles east of the state capital of Atlanta. Augusta is the second largest and second oldest city in Georgia, as well as it is the second largest metropolitan area in the state after Atlanta. Augusta was founded in 1735 as a trading outpost and named after Princess Augusta of Saxe Gotha.
