The Avro RJ, more commonly known as the BAE-146, is a short haul regional airliner that made its first introduction in 1983, after a 5-year development phase. With its production run lasting from 1978 to 2001, British Aerospace produced 387 of the BAE-146. It was primarily marketed as one of the quietest aircraft of its day, it was marketed as the “WhisperJetâ€, as is one of the primary aircraft operating out of small municipal and regional airports. It has also spawned several different variants including a cargo version, as well as a rugged unprepared landing strip variation.
Production on the AVRO RJ started in 1983 and ended in 2001.
Key Features of the AVRO RJ
The British Aerospace had several different sizes of the BAE-146- to match itself with several different markets. All the BAE-146 aircraft has 6 abreast seating configurations with the BAE-146-100 having maximum seating for 80, the BAE-146-200 having maximum seating for 100, and the BAE-146-300 having a maximum seating of 300. Each aircraft has two fully enclosed lavatories, one in the front, and the other in the rear of the aircraft of ease of accessibility. The aircraft also has two full galleys for food and beverage preparation.
