Mulhouse is the capital of the southern Alsace and is located near the border of three countries: France, Germany and Switzerland. The name of the city comes from German word ‘Mülhausen’ which means mills. That is why the mill is the symbol of the city to this very day. Although Mulhouse is not a big city, it’s famous for plenty of museums there. Science, technology, economics, management, arts and humanities are the main fields that research and teaching at UHA focus on. 

If you’re visiting Mulhouse with your family, or you’re just fond of animals and nature, especially the exotic ones, you should visit the zoological and botanical garden of Mulhouse (Parc Zoologique et Botanique). On the 25 hectares of the zoo, you’ll find almost 3,500 species and different types of trees and plants, some of which are endangered. One of the biggest attractions and mascot of the Park is Nanuq – the polar bear born in France in 2016.
