Private Jet Charter Services - Dallas Love Field Airport (KDAL)

Paramount Business Jets offers private jet charter flights and luxury airliner charters to and from Dallas Love Field Airport.

Like many other general aviation airports that cater to private and chartered business jets, Dallas Love Field started out as the city’s main airport until its commercial business outgrew it.

In this case, that was in 1974 when Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport opened.

That’s OK. Just means more room and VIP treatment for those who want to hire a private jet at DAL – Dallas Love Field – a city-owned public airport six miles northwest of downtown Dallas.

Tragically famous

Dallas Love Field (IATA: DAL, ICAO: KDAL) became an important part of American history on Nov. 22, 1963, when, following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, President Lyndon Baines Johnson took the oath of office aboard Air Force One as it sat parked on a ramp at the airport.

The event is so politically charged and shrouded in mystery that it took more than 50 years for the airport to agree on a way in which to memorialize the spot. In fact, the memorial was still being discussed in late 2017.

In 2015, lights were turned on to illuminate a bronze marker which has been embedded, flush to the ground, into the concrete where present-day planes taxi.

“President Kennedy has the eternal flame at Arlington Cemetery and a simple light here marks where the Constitution was preserved that day,” Farris Rookstool III, the historian who gave the bronze marker to the city was reported as saying. But the illumination was short-lived. A week after it was lit, the runway light, flush in the ground next to the marker, was abruptly turned off. It was positioned to shine into a bay window in the airport.

In 2017, Dallas’ Director of Aviation, Mark Duebner, told WFAA, the Dallas ABC affiliate television station, “The wheels have turned slowly, and we hope to rectify that soon. This was a significant event. I think it’s important for us to recognize it.” He said the light would once again be illuminated when airport construction, expected to be completed in 2019, is done.

Love Field is named after 1st Lt. Moss Lee Love, 11th Cavalry, who was killed in 1913, in a Type C Wright pusher bi-plane at North Island, San Diego, Calif.

While Dallas Love Field is a general aviation, reliever airport for Dallas/Fort Worth International, a few commercial airlines remain. And they, led by Southwest Airlines, fought hard to remain there. In fact, Southwest is headquartered there. After the airline industry was deregulated in 1978, Southwest Airlines began to grow and announced plans to start interstate travel from Dallas Love. This angered the City of Fort Worth and DFW International Airport, which wanted air service expansion to take place at Dallas International. Legal fights, with at least one reaching the U.S. Supreme Court, for almost 40 years kept strict limits on commercial flights. It would not be until 2014 that destination limits were removed on the commercial airlines remaining at Love Field – Southwest, United, Delta and Seaport. And so, the air traffic grew:

  • In 2013, 8.5 million passengers
  • In 2014, 9.4 million passengers
  • In 2017, 15.7 passengers
