The St. Louis suburb of Ladue, Missouri, is one of the richest towns in the United States.
Like many wealthy suburbs, Ladue, which lies just west of St. Louis in St. Louis County, was a farming community until cars came along. Cars allowed wealthy city dwellers to buy homes, or second homes, in the country. In the mid-1800s, before the town was named Ladue, the road connecting it to St. Louis was named Ladue because it led to the property of wealthy St. Louis banker and lawyer, Peter LaDue.
The 130-year-old St. Louis Country Club now sits on part of the property he owned.
Ladue was listed as one of the “Best Places to Retire Rich” in 2013 by Forbes magazine. About 20 percent of its population of 8,600 is retirement age.
Ladue’s average household income of $292,000 makes it the richest city in Missouri and home to the famous and wealthy. The median home value in Ladue is $800,000.
Among the famous people who live or have lived there are Stan Musial, a legendary player for the St. Louis Cardinals; Anheuser-Busch chairman August Busch III and other executives from the company’s St. Louis headquarters; George Herbert Walker, maternal grandfather of President George H. W. Bush; and Ohio State and Dallas Cowboy running back Ezekiel Elliott.
One resident, who moved to Ladue from another suburb of St. Louis, said, “It seems like a forest in the middle of St. Louis. I often have deer and owls lounging in my backyard— even though I’m 5 minutes from Clayton and 15 minutes from downtown.”
Ladue may be swanky but it seems that it hasn’t lost sight of its middle-America roots. In the summer of 2018, Ladue revised its zoning ordinance to permit the keeping of chickens. It also allows deer hunting by archery and crossbow during hunting season.

Save on Your Ladue Private Charter Flights
These days, over 30% of private jet charters are flying empty either to get into the position for the next booked flight or to return to their home base. These flights are known as empty legs and are one-way private jet flights without any payload or passengers on board.
It often happens that such an empty-leg flight has been paid for in part by the original flyer and is therefore offered at reduced rates. Empty legs offer price advantages with cost savings of up to 75% when compared to standard private jet travel rates.
At any given time, there may be more than 3,000 empty legs available worldwide. Once you let us know about your preferred routes and dates, we can match your air charter schedule with empty-leg charter flights available on the market.
Using multiple platforms, Paramount Business Jets offers the most comprehensive empty-leg flight search on the market.
