Conroe City Overview
Conroe is a city in eastern Texas and located approximately 40 miles north of Houston and 156 miles east of the state capital of Austin. Conroe is the county seat of Montgomery County, and the principal city of the designated Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown Metropolitan area. Conroe began as a sawmill settlement named after Isaac Conroe, a local lumberman, in the early 1880s and was incorporated as a city in 1904.
