Private charter is the choice of millions of travelers around the world. No long lines, no cramped and overcrowded commercial aircraft, and a list of options of on-board amenities and services that may only be limited by the imagination are just some of the reasons charter travelers just keep coming back.

But Paramount Business Jets has taken its repertoire of services even further by considering the impact each flight makes on the environment. Carbon dioxide, or CO2, is a byproduct of every flight, as well as driving and powering our homes and businesses. Paramount has teamed up with Terrapass, a leading carbon management provider, to offer our clients the option to purchase carbon offsets for their trips.

The way carbon offset works is that the amount of CO2 emissions generated by flights are calculated, and the traveler buys “carbon credits” based on those emissions. Terrapass then takes the money and invests it into projects and companies that produce farm power, landfill gas capture and wind energy.

The best part about carbon offset – besides its positive impact – is that it’s actually pretty cheap. In fact, Paramount is now matching the carbon offset of each client who chooses to participate, meaning the environmentally conscientious charter flier can actually offset twice the emissions for the low price of just one flight’s worth.

One of the reasons so many people fly private charter is a peace of mind not available on commercial airlines. What better way to add peace of mind than knowing you paid a small price to undo double your carbon footprint?

Winglets were common on business jets until Boeing took notice and had them added to their 737 Boeing Business Jets and subsequently to their 737 commercial airliners over the past decade. The devices are now making their way to Airbus A320-series airliners, according to Seattlepi.com.

Appearing as upward curvatures on the tips of aircraft wings, winglets cut down on resistance caused of vortices formed by a plane’s wingtips during flight, making flights more fuel-efficient.

This is just an example of how the business-jet industry has led the “green” movement in aviation industry.
It should be noted that Paramount Business Jets offers charter aircraft in the Boeing Business Jet and Airbus A320 families.

Another example of “green” leadership comes from private jet charters that offer their clients the option to offset the carbon footprint created by their trips. This works by figuring out the carbon emissions of a trip and making a payment based on the amount of those emissions to a carbon management company, which then uses the funds to invest in the development of low-carbon technologies, such as solar and wind power.

Paramount is a part of this movement, as well, partnering with TerraPass, a leading carbon offset provider, for its Seven Wonders of the World mega-tour starting Jan. 26. In fact, Paramount is actually matching the carbon offset of the trip.
